‘Horns Hockey Secure Nine new Recruits for 2016-17
LETHBRIDGE: After overhauling the roster prior to last season, the Pronghorn men’s hockey team announced its 2016-17 recruiting class today with the addition of nine players; five forwards, three defencemen, and one goaltender.
Head coach Spiros Anastas is pleased to announce the commitments of Russ Maxwell, Garrett Hughson, Cory Millette, Ryan Chynoweth, Torrin White, Connor Sanvido, Ayrton Nikkel, Clint Filbrandt, and Evan Wardley.
Russ Maxwell joins his older brother Mitch on the ‘Horns and returns to hockey after serving a two-year mission with the Church of Latter Day Saints.
The Magrath native played four seasons in the WHL with the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Seattle Thunderbirds, registering 61 goals and 86 assists in 278 career games. His best season offensively was during the 2012-13 season when he recorded 22 goals and 33 assists in 66 games for the Hurricanes.
