Farming Accident Claims an Elderly Brooks Woman

BROOKS – An 88-year old woman has died due to injuries in a farming accident near Brooks.

Brooks RCMP were called to a rural residence to assist EMS on the afternoon of Sunday, July 3.

Police say a tractor and bailer caught fire, and the driver of the tractor suffered burns to the majority of her body.

Mary-Jane Wickert was taken to a local hospital, then transported to a Calgary hospital via STARS. She later died in hospital from her injuries.

No one else was hurt in the incident.
