May 7, 2018 | 11:27 AM

LETHBRIDGE – Parents, educators and those who work with young people are invited to take part in the 5th annual “Internet Safety Night” at Lethbridge College.

The event will include members of the Lethbridge Police Service, Lethbridge School District 51, Palliser School District, Holy Spirit School District, London Drugs and the Lethbridge Professional Development Consortium.

The focus is on technology awareness, the effects social media may have on young people, and how parents and guardians can monitor use and learn more about what they can do in the event they need to help their children.

There will be several break-out sessions to discuss overcoming smartphone addiction, monitoring home internet use, responsibly introducing children to social media and an “ask a teen” activity.

Registration at http://www.SafeNetAB.com is encouraged, but not mandatory. For those who can’t attend the event in person, it will also be live-streamed.

Last year’s event was attended by several hundred people.
