LETHBRIDGE – A University of Lethbridge professor charged with sexual assault had a lawyer appear on his behalf Thursday (June 9) morning in Lethbridge Provincial Court.

An agent appeared for Calgary lawyer, Willie deWit, who is representing 37-year old Nicholas Hanson, and asked for the case to be adjourned to July 7.

The accusation against Hanson came to light in November of 2015, when a 23-year old woman and former student reported to police that she was sexually assaulted by her professor in December of 2014.

An investigation found that on December 13, 2014, the student had been at an off-campus event and ended up alone in a room with a professor when the alleged incident occured.
