Failing to Stop Causes Fatal Collision Outside of Champion

CHAMPION – A 22-year old man has died as a result of a collision between his motorcycle and a pickup truck.

Around 9-pm on Saturday, June 4, Vulcan RCMP responded to the intersection of Highway 23 and 529, two kilometers north of Champion.

The eastbound motorcycle was travelling along Highway 529, when he failed to stop at a stop sign and hit the rear end of a passing pickup truck hauling a boat.

The motorcycle driver from Okotoks was pronounced dead, while the pickup driver and two other passengers were not hurt.

Speed is believed to be a factor.
