Police make arrests in high risk warrant in south Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE –    Police conducted three search warrants at three different locations in the city on Friday (Nov 5) evening for stolen property.

The people inside a home in the 1000 block of Elliot Road South refused to exit their residence as requested. As a result The Critical Incident Response Team was utilized to make the area safe.

Witnesses in the area reported loud flash bangs had been going off since around 6:00-pm.

On scene, police could be heard over a megaphone telling the residents to come out with their hands on their head, saying everyone was under arrest for possession of a firearm.

 After some time the occupants of the home agreed to exit and the residence was made safe for a search by investigators. The area opened back up around 10:08-pm, with no danger to the public.

As a result of the search, four rifles, ammunition and other stolen property was recovered. Police confirmed that three people were taken into custody, with two people being charged.  Further charges are expected. 

The file remains under investigation. No additional information will be available until Monday.
