Legislation introduced to ensure consistency in executive compensation
EDMONTON – Alberta is looking to change the way it structures compensation for members of public boards, agencies and commissions.
Bill 19, the Reform of Agencies, Boards and Commissions Compensation Act was introduced into the legislature today.
Joe Ceci, President of the Treasury Board and Minister of Finance, said the bill will bring Alberta in line with comparable jurisdictions.
“Albertans expect compensation arrangements that are funded by public dollars to be consistent with the broader public sector,” he said. “This legislation directly addresses the wide range of compensation practices that currently exist in our provincial agencies to ensure greater accountability, consistency and fairness.”
