Specialized Infant Formula Neocate Now Subsidized by Government
ALBERTA – Parents of infants who cannot consume regular baby formula because of complex food allergies or medical conditions can breathe a sigh of relief financially.
The Alberta government announced the launch of a benefit program that will provide coverage for the medically required, specialized infant formula Neocate.
The average cost of Neocate is approximately $690 per month.
“Some babies have to rely on specialized infant formulas to meet nutritional needs. But these formulas are costly, medically necessary and, in many case, cause families considerable financial strain,” Associate Minister of Health Brandy Payne said.
