LETHBRIDGE — A 30 year old city man has been charged following an incident early Monday (Nov 12) morning, where a clerk was threatened and confined at a west side convenience store.

Around 4:30 a.m. police responded to a 911 call from a female employee at 7-11 along the 600 block of Columbia Boulevard. It’s alleged a man entered the store, began screaming at her, throwing things around and chased her to a back room where she was confined for a period of time.

When police arived on scene, the man was highly agitated and appeared to be under the influence of an intoxicating substance(s).  After a brief standoff, where the subject refused to obey verbal commands, the man was safely taken into custody but continued to have outbursts where he would become enraged and scream.

At the police station, the subject struggled with police and assaulted officers by kicking them.

Jason Samuel McCrae, is charged with uttering threats, unlawful confinement, mischief under $5,000, theft under $5,000, causing a disturbance, assaulting a police officer and breach of an undertaking.

Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, a Justice of the Peace released McCrae on a recognizance. He is to appear in court Nov. 30 to answer to the charges.
