LETHBRIDGE – Two unnamed individuals have been fined, after 150 coyote carcasses were found on public lands surrounding the Milk River Ridge Reservoir last month.

Fish and Wildlife officers received a complaint from a member of the public who made the discovery on March 2nd.

Brenden Cox, Public Affairs Officer with Alberta Justice and Solicitor General, says the two were charged with unlawfully disposing of waste on public lands, under the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act. They were each handed a fine of $230.

He noted that an investigation by Fish and Wildlife determined the coyotes were harvested lawfully, and the case has been closed.
