AHS Justice Program now located in Lethbridge Provincial Building
LETHBRIDGE – Three provincial programs aimed at helping those with mental health issues, violence treatment and corrections transitions are now all located in Lethbridge’s Provincial building on 5th Street South.
AHS South Zone Clinical Supervisor for Justice Programs, Addictions and Mental Health Erin Musick, says they’re hoping that by being in a more accessible location on 5 Ave. S., people can learn a bit more about what they do, and their clients don’t have to travel far to access the services they need.
“Part of what has happened within addiction and mental health is they’re really trying to work on integration, so every door is ‘the right door….’ is the idea. So now, they used to have addictions in one place and the adult clinic was in the other and so now they have adult mental health services and addictions all in one place.”
Musick explains that the Lethbridge Mental Health Diversion Program, the Family Violence Treatment Program and the Corrections Transition Team help hundreds of people every year deal with mental disorders, substance abuse concerns, decision-making skills – and also provide clients with counselling, treatment and transitioning skills into the community after being incarcerated.
