GRANUM – A two-storey house was reduced to a pile of charred rubble in a weekend house fire.

RCMP said the call came in just after 1 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, bringing them to a fire in Granum, north of Fort Macleod. They arrived at a home on Lansdowne St. to find it fully engulfed in flames.

Fire departments from Granum, Fort Macleod, Claresholm, and the MD of Willow Creek all helped battle the blaze, and as a precaution, nearby residents evacuated their homes.

According to police, there were no reports of injuries.

The cause was still being investigated Monday morning. Heat damage was visible on the house next door to the fire scene.
