Town of Taber fills vacant CAO position

TABER – Taber town council has announced a new chief administrative officer.

Cory Armfelt will take over the duties of the position on Jan. 31. The position had been formally vacant since September. Since 2013, Cory has worked with the town as the director of planning and economic development, and previosuly worked as a contractor withing the town.

“With his extensive experience and knowledge, Council had no doubt that Cory was the correct choice for this position,” said Mayor De Vlieger in a statement. “We are confident that he will continue to serve the Town of Taber to the very best of his ability and help create an even brighter future for our town.”

“I am pleased to accept the position of Chief Administrative Officer, and I look forward to working with Council, Town staff, and all citizens as we move forward with many new initiatives and projects within the Town of Taber,” said Armfelt in a statement. “Taber has many opportunities that I am excited to explore as I transition into my new position.”

During the absence of a permanent CAO, Armfelt, Devon Wannop and Gary Scheer served as acting CAO to maintain efficient operations. The three will continue to fill the position until the end of the month.
