LETHBRIDGE:  A new study by Lethbridge College claims the majority of residents have clear feelings about certain Provincial Environment Policies.

Students interviewed approximately 830 residents during a four day period in early February.

The study illustrates that 56.6% of respondents are opposed to the Alberta Government’s plan to introduce a carbon tax by 2017  with over 34% “strongly” against the environmental measure.

Over 81% of local Wildrose supporters and 72% of Progressive Conservatives in Lethbridge strongly disagree with the move.

Lethbridge seems to more receptive of the New Democrats’ plan to phase out coal-fired electrical power generation by 2030.

56.7% of residents who participated in the study back the government’s move to lessen dependency on the commodity.

Almost 70% of University graduates and 66% of youth are behind the 2030 goal.
