RCMP Urge Safe Driving for Family Day Weekend

ALBERTA – RCMP will be closely monitoring highways province-wide this weekend.

They’ll be watching specifically for speeders, impaired and distracted drivers.

Driver frustrations will also be high in the face of issues caused by higher traffic volumes, which can lead to unsafe decisions. They remind drivers that winter road conditions can only make those decisions worse.

Last year, seven people were killed and 49 other collisions causing injuries occured over the Family Day weekend.

Police are urging all drivers, including those out off-roading on snowmobiles and quads, to take extra pre-cautions this weekend to keep everyone safe.
