Legislative harassment policy may include complaints about eye-rolling and finger-wagging

EDMONTON – An Alberta legislature committee will consider a new formal process that deals with harassment complaints made by one M-L-A against another.

If the plan is eventually approved, it will mark the first time members will have a process to turn to if they’re being harassed by a colleague.

Actions that could form the basis of a complaint include eye-rolling, finger-wagging, leering, gossiping, unwanted physical contact and taking credit for someone else’s work.

The members’ services committee, which will look at the new policy, is meeting today to consider options for how to handle problems between members.
