Woman facing Animal Cruelty charges may be in Jamaica
LETHBRIDGE – A woman from Milk River, wanted in connection with the seizure of hundreds of sick and emaciated dogs, may now be living in the Caribbean.
Alberta RCMP Corporal Curtis Peters says they were made aware of information that 57- year old April Dawn Irving has been spotted in Jamaica, from reports out of Saskatchewan.
However right now, he says their hands are tied.
“If she was to return to a province that she has warrants in, and we were made aware of it by members of the public or the media, or something like that, the warrants would be executed… meaning she would be arrested on her outstanding warrants and that would compel her back into the court system.”
“The jurisdiction that is on that warrant still applies. There’s nothing the RCMP would be able to enforce in Jamaica, or outside of the country.”
57 – year old April Dawn Irving is charged with cruelty to animals after five dogs were found dead on a property near Milk River, along with more than 200 neglected animals that were seized in 2014.
The animals that were alive, were found dehydrated, starving and chained to stakes.
Her court case here was never concluded and an arrest warrant was issued after she failed to show up for her court dates.
