LETHBRIDGE: An autopsy has confirmed that a 56-year-old woman who was found dead in a west Lethbridge apartment last weekend, was murdered. It’s now the second homicide of 2016 in Lethbridge.

Police have also identified the victim as Frances Candice Little Light, of Lethbridge.

Her body was found around 5:15 Sunday evening in an apartment complex along the 100 block of Columbia Boulevard.

Several people from the apartment were detained for questioning, and a search of the area was conducted by the K9 Unit. Police have noted however, that they have no suspects at this time.

Staff Sergeant Scott Woods spoke to the media, acknowledging that their response to the apartment that night, was not their first visit there, “We were there, my understanding was earlier that day, in the morning to that same location. We were called there for service at the uniform division level, and they had dealt with an earlier matter.”

An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday in Calgary, to determine the cause of death.

The investigation is still in its early stages, but police have stated that there is no evidence to suggest an ongoing risk to the general public.

Police also went as far as to address speculation that this could be linked to the homicide of 78-year-old Irene Carter in January, saying there is no evidence of a connection between the two.
