Historic sex crimes trial set for early 2019
LETHBRIDGE – A seven-day trial has been set for a 49-year-old Raymond man who is accused of historic sex crimes as a youth.
The accused – who also faces sexual abuse allegations as an adult – cannot be named as he was under the age of 18 when some of the alleged offences occurred in the 1980s and 1990s.
The trial will be separated into two segments at the outset of 2019, running Jan. 17 and 18, and concluding with five more days from Jan. 21-25.
A preliminary hearing was previously set on the man’s adult charges, which will determine if there is enough evidence to warrant a trial on those matters. That is scheduled to run in November.
