Petition Aims To Suspend Palliser Chief Superintendent

Jan 13, 2016 | 4:00 PM

LETHBRIDGE: An online petition is calling for the suspension of the Chief Superintendent of Palliser Regional Schools.

Kevin Gietz has been accused of bullying, unwelcomed physical contact toward female employees and creating an intolerable working environment by former board Treasurer Michelle Gibb.

The petition was created by a group of parents who want the Province to conduct an independent investigation into the allegations.

As of Monday afternoon, nearly 300 people have put their name on the petition with some claiming to be former employees of Palliser that have been bullied by the administration.

Group Spokesperson Sheri Morris says a lot of teachers and parents are scared to speak up because of what might happen to them.

Morris, who says she used to be on the Home and School Council for Dorothy Dalgliesh Elementary school, says concerns about Gietz’s behaviour were brought up during past meetings but the Board of Trustees ignored any questions.

None of the accusations towards Gietz have been proven in court.
