Hurricanes rack up 2nd home loss in as many nights

LETHBRIDGE –  It was a second disappointing home loss in a row for the Hurricanes Saturday night.

The Regina Pats outshot the Canes 49-35 on the way to a 7-2 final.

The Canes were first on the scoreboard two minutes into the first period, thanks to a shot off the stick of Calen Addison, assisted by Ryley Lindgren and Colton Kroeker.

It turned out to be the only goal of the period, as the Pats followed with a succession of four power play penalties.

The second period was barely underway when the Pats worked in another penalty.  A minute later, the Canes’ Ryley Lindgren posted the team’s last goal of the game on a power play. The Pats had the score at two apiece by the end of the second frame.

Regina owned the third period, lobbing in a total five goals, including a short-handed shot.  Mid way through the period, the Canes switched out goalie Stuart Skinner for Ryan Gilchrist.

The Pats registered 16 minutes in penalties to the Canes six.

The Hurricanes, who are now 5-3-1-1 on the season, head out on an eastern road trip next week.  The team plays Regina on Tuesday night, Moose Jaw on Wednesday and then moves on to Brandon next Friday.
