LETHBRIDGE – This past weekend was a historic one for Lethbridge Ringette.

Three teams participated in Calgary at what’s known as the world’s biggest Ringette tournament, the Esso Golden Ring, while another team travelled to Edmonton to participate in the Edmonton Silver Ring.

A release from the Lethbridge Ringette Association states with teams playing up to 6 games, spread across the city, the Golden Ring tournament truly tests the physical and emotional abilities of every team and player.

The LRA teams were relentless, and their perseverance, energy, and teamwork helped them bring home three Gold medals, as well as a Silver.

The U14B Hericanes and U16B Rattlers brought home Gold medals in the Calgary tournament, while the U12B Velocity team competed in the Edmonton tournament, and returned home with a Gold medal.

It was also at the Esso Golden Ring in Calgary where the U19 Wild captured a Silver medal.

Before this year, the LRA has rarely taken home championship medals from either of these world class tournaments.

In the last 15 years, they’ve only won one Esso Golden Ring gold medal, and never a gold medal at the Silver Ring.
