Mother Nature blows through – ripping off a roof and tipping semis

Oct 14, 2016 | 3:33 PM

FORT MACLEOD –  Mother Nature’s hissy fit impacted roofs and semis Friday afternoon.

Fort Macleod RCMP asked truckers who didn’t have to be on the road to please delay their travel, particularly if they were running  with an empty trailer.  Officers had to deal with two semi roll-overs – one on Highway 2 and the other on Highway 3.

The carnage didn’t stop there.  RCMP also had to reduce the west bound lanes through the town down to one lane, after the roof blew off the old American Hotel.

Fortunately, the building is shutdown and no one was injured.

Mary Roelofson grabbed a picture of the roof after it blew off the building.  She says it happened around 12:45.

Town officials sent in heavy equipment to clear the area.
