One person killed – Another person airlifted to Calgary after 2 vehicle collision

CROWSNEST PASS –  UP-DATE   A fatal head-on collision on highway-22 on Sunday morning claimed one life and sent another person to hospital.

The incident happened at11:45am, about 50 kilometres north of Maycroft. Crowsnest Pass RCMP have determined that a northbound car went into opposing traffic and collided with a southbound SUV.

The driver and lone occupant of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and lone occupant of the SUV was airlifted by STARS.

The name of the deceased is not being released at this time, pending notification of family.

Highway-22 was closed for several hours but reopened to traffic around 5:30.   The RCMP investigation into the collision is still ongoing.
