Lethbridge Police seize more than $60,000 worth of drugs after traffic stop

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Local police have charged two people following a routine traffic spot where police seized more than $60,000 worth of drugs.

According to police, a Chevrolet Silverado truck was stopped after an officer witnessed two equipment violations on April 25. After speaking to the occupants, the officer noticed a machete in between the seat and centre console and found the woman in the passenger seat was in breach of the conditions of a recognizance.

Following a search of the vehicle, police seized a large number of drugs and weapons including:

– 117 grams Carfentanil valued at $46,800

– 40 capsules containing believed to be heroin valued at $8000

– 10.8 grams of methamphetamine valued at $1080

– 12 Hydromorphone capsules valued at $95

– 13 Amphetamine capsules valued at $260

– 1035 Gabapentin pills valued at $2070

– 22 Temazepam pills valued at $310

– 92 Codeine pills valued at $920

– 25 OxyCodone pills valued at $430

– 40 Zopiclone Pills valued at $245

– Hatchet

– Baton

– Machete

– Brass knuckles

LPS also seized three baggies of carfentanil, nearly $300 cash and a concealed knife from 39-year-old Larry Healy Jr., who was driving, as well as a sheathed knife the passenger was wearing around her neck.

Healy Jr., of Lethbridge, and 19-year-old Shaquerri Hailey Clark Young Pine, of Brocket, are each charged with eight counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited weapon, knowingly possessing a prohibited weapon and carrying a concealed weapon.

Healy is also facing an additional charge of possession of the proceeds of crime.

Young Pine was remanded and made her first court appearance on April 26, while Healy was released on a recognizance and is scheduled to appear in court on May 2.
