Alberta Hockey Peewee Prospects Cup coming to Lethbridge, volunteers needed

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The 2019 Alberta Hockey Peewee Prospects Cup is looking for volunteers.

The event is scheduled for May 8 through 12 in Lethbridge. There are multiple volunteer positions available, including announcers, penalty box/scorekeeper, time keepers, 50/50 draw management and working the raffle table.

The action will take place at the ATB Centre in west Lethbridge. The tournament is step one of the Hockey Alberta Development program and is held in off years of the Alberta Winter Games.

Players are split up into eight teams. Twenty 2006-born players will make up each roster, along with the support of volunteers.

The rosters were selected after four regional camps April 12 through 14 in Calgary, Olds, Edmonton and Vegreville, with two teams formed from each camp.

Six games are scheduled for day one of round robin play on Thursday, May 9. There will be six games on Friday, May 10, four on May 11 and the finals will take place on Sunday, May 12.

All games are open and free for the public to attend.

Players and team staff from Lethbridge and the surrounding area will be a part of the tournament.

Defenseman Nathan Hawkins from Lethbridge, forward Aidyn Law (Coaldale), Grady Martin (Oyen), forward Terik Parascak (Lethbridge) and goaltender Kahil Wright (Taber) are all a part of the South Black team roster. Lethbridge’s Brendan Harper will serve as an assistant coach.

On the South Yellow team, Medicine Hat’s Beck Boiteau (goaltender), Lethbridge’s Carter Cunningham (forward), Taber’s Kade Duell (forward), Carter Klippenstein of Lethbridge (forward), Cardston’s Kasey Russel Jr. (forward) and Lethbridge’s Alexander Westlund (forward) will compete.
