Local pair arrested again

Local man and woman charged with drug trafficking offences for the second time in two weeks

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge Police have charged 39-year-old Larry Healy Jr. and 19-year-old Shaquerri Hailey Clark Young Pine, both from Lethbridge, for the second time in two weeks with drug trafficking offences after officers responded to a local hotel on Wednesday, May 8.

Drugs, cash, weapons and stolen property were subsequently seized from a vehicle by LPS.

According to police, they were alerted to the suspected drug trafficking activity by a guest staying at the Superlodge hotel along the 2200 block of 7 Avenue South.

When they arrived, police found Healy Jr. inside his vehicle in the parking lot, and Young Pine was seen walking towards the rear of the car.

The pair were known to police to be bound by recognizance conditions stemming from a previous arrest on April 25 during a traffic stop downtown that resulted in the seizure of $60,000 worth of drugs.

Both were arrested without incident for breach of their recognizances, and a subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of:

– 21.6 grams of Carfentanil

– 18.4 grams of Methamphetamine

– 143 Codeine tablets

– 30 Temazepam pills

– 73 Gabapentin pills

– $4,180 cash

– Seven cellphones

– Drug paraphernalia (scales and packaging)

– A machete, two knives and a BB Gun

– Suspected stolen property including five computers, one iPad and a bag containing various antique Canadian and US coins.

The value of the drugs is estimated at $12,656.

Healy Jr. and Young Pine are charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime and possession of a dangerous weapon.

Healy is also charged with four counts of breach of a recognizance and Young Pine with three counts of breach of a recognizance.

They were both remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear in court on May 10.
