LETHBRIDGE, AB – A 29-year-old Lethbridge woman facing dozens of fraud and possession of stolen property charges pleaded guilty to 14 charges in Lethbridge Provincial Court Tuesday.

The day was set aside for a preliminary hearing, after she initially elected trial by judge alone.

Samantha Joy Ellison pleaded guilty to two counts of breach of conditions, two counts of possession of stolen property, possession of stolen property under $5,000, identity fraud, and several other charges.

According to the Crown, the charges relate, at least in part, to the search of a hotel room on Mayor Magrath Drive back on Jan. 4, 2018, where identity documents including an Alberta Health Card, Bay Card, Scotia Bank card, and lending documents for a $40,000 Jeep bought in Edmonton, along with a wig, were recovered.

Many of the documents/cards were linked to a Lethbridge woman who was eventually able to get the loan for the jeep reversed.

Ellison is currently out on bail on certain conditions.

Judge G.S. Maxwell accepted the plea, however a PSR, or Pre-Sentence Report will first be completed.

Ellison will be sentenced Sept. 6, 2019.
