Roosters found abandoned in Alexander Wilderness Park

LETHBRIDGE, AB – It may be one of the more unusual finds for Lethbridge Animal Services.

According to a social media post from the organization, officers were called out to Alexander Wilderness Park in north Lethbridge around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 28.

When they arrived at the scene, they found what appeared to be a box for electronics that contained roosters that had been left near an old fence near the bottom of a coulee or hill.

Animal Services says three birds were found in the box, and an investigation has since been launched to try and find out where they may have come from.

It’s also not clear how long the roosters may have been left there.

Any information, says Animal Services, will be passed along to the Alberta SPCA and charges may be laid.

Anyone with information on where the animals may have come from is asked to contact Lethbridge Animal Services immediately.

Back in Jan. 2019, “Wilbur” the domesticated pig was found trotting along Highway 4 near Mayor Magrath Drive. His owners were never found, and he was eventually sent to a farm outside of Lethbridge.
