LPS charge local man after alleged sexual assault of female sales associate at show home

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge Police have charged a 42-year-old man in connection with an incident where a female sales associate was sexually assaulted while showing a home to a prospective buyer.

Police say a 23-year-old woman was working at a city show home when a man entered the property and asked to view another house down the block on May 29.

The sales associate accompanied him to the empty home, but while she was showing the man the basement, he sexually assaulted her.

Before leaving the home, the victim was able to message her coworkers in the area for help, and a colleague attended just as the man was driving away. A description of him and his vehicle were provided to police, and as a result, he was identified and located a short time later where he was arrested without incident.

According to police, this was a random crime where the victim and accused were unknown to one another.

Maneesh Kumar Khokar, of Lethbridge, is facing one count of sexual assault. Khokar was released from custody with conditions that he have no contact with the victim and is prohibited from attending any of the homes for sale by the company she works for.

He’s scheduled to appear in court July 16.

In order to protect the identity and safeguard the privacy of the victim, the police will not be releasing the name of the company or the specific location of the incident.
