Wallet Stolen from Lethbridge Senior, Police Asking for Assistance

Lethbridge Police Service says a 78-year-old woman was walking to her vehicle in the parking lot of the south side Walmart on Thursday, June 13th when she was reportedly approached by two unknown men.

She told police that the men stood very close to her and spoke in another language, using several “distraction techniques” such as pointing to items in a flyer and trying to get the woman to take a $20 bill.

The woman was able to get away from the pair but only realized afterwards when she got home that her wallet was missing.

The police investigation determined that credit card transactions began almost immediately afterwards and continued the next day from Lethbridge west to Revelstoke, B.C.

One of the suspects is described as being approximately 30 years old, of East Indian descent, and being taller with a fair complexion. The other is also said to be East Indian with a shorter and stocky build.

Surveillance footage has been obtained by Lethbridge Police Service and is currently being reviewed.
