Biker group in Lethbridge to raise money for homeless youth in Motorcycle Show and Shine

LETHBRIDGE, AB – They may be covered in tattoos and leather jackets while riding bikes that would make your grandparents nervous, but they are also human beings.

President of the Lethbridge chapter of the Chozen Breed Motorcycle Riding Club (MRC) John Allen says he wanted to join the group because it gave him more freedom to raise money for any cause he deemed worthy.

“We are, basically, a group of people, we’re nearly all husbands and wives in Lethbridge. We just want to give back to the community to try and make people become a more productive member of society, to break cycles that they may have found themselves in at some point in their lives.”

For their first ever event in The Windy City, Chozen Breed MRC is putting on a Motorcycle Show and Shine on Saturday, July 6th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the south side Canadian Tire.

Anyone is welcome to bring their bikes by for the showcase, but will have to register either in advance or at the event for $20.

Every dollar that is raised will go to a group called Wood’s Homes that helps youth in Lethbridge that are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of being homeless.

“They provide them somewhere safe, but they also try and help them to get off the streets, to find a job, they help them find somewhere to live, they help them with resumes and other problems that they’ve got going on in their lives,” says Allen. “It was just something that touched my heart.”

While he understands that some people can feel intimidated by bikers, Allen stresses that anyone you see in Lethbridge wearing the Chozen Breed MRC jackets are friendly, approachable, and can give information on how to get involved.
