LETHBRIDGE, AB – 22-year-old Abshir Mohamed Adiid was allegedly involved in a physical altercation with a man in Lethbridge on October 28th, 2018.

During an “out of control” party at a community hall on the 600 block of 21st Street South, police claim that a fire extinguisher was set off in the hall, which forced numerous people to flee outside.

When everyone was outdoors, a fight broke out between multiple people that saw the suspect being struck in the head multiple times.

“As the fight was being broken up the male pulled a pistol out of his waistband and pointed it at multiple people,” claims Lethbridge Police Service.

After a brief period, Adiid reportedly hid under a vehicle across the street.

“When a witness observed him and asked if he was okay, the male crawled out from the vehicle and pointed the weapon at the witness and another group of people,” adds police. “Seconds later, a car pulled up and the male fled the scene.”

Officers investigated the scene and identified the suspect but were unable to find him. A warrant was put out for his arrest.

On June 26th, 2019, Ottawa Police Service arrested Adiid and sent him back to Alberta to answer to charges of assault with a weapon and possessing a weapon dangerous to the public.

He was released from custody under strict bail conditions on July 3rd and is scheduled to appear next in court on July 31st.
