LETHBRIDGE, AB – After 90 years of service in the community, the City of Lethbridge is getting ready to install a monument dedicated to the Sisters of St. Martha.

Established in 1929, the group looks to move to Nova Scotia to be closer to their family, but the hope is that this monument will preserve the legacy they have established in Lethbridge.

Back in April, City Council approved up to $15,000 in funding to help build and install the structure. More details here.

In the map above, there are six options that were identified for where on city hall property the statue could go. Originally, it was just options A, B, and C, but Councillors Belinda Crowson and Mark Campbell were tasked with looking into all possible locations.

Following their search, they added another three potential spots, identified as D, E, and F.

In the end, the pair decided that option D would be the best as it is in a prominent location visible to traffic on Stafford Drive South and did not run the risk of getting in the way of other future projects.

An exact date for when the monument would be installed was not made clear at council.
