LETHBRIDGE, AB – Residents can request a different blue and/or black cart size for their recycling starting tomorrow, July 12.

The City said the exchange will be free of charge and available from the 12 to August 16. Lethbridge’s curbside recycling program has been running for well over a month, and the City said residents have had the chance to test the waters and see if they need a bigger or smaller cart for their recyclables.

There are two cart size options. The larger cart of 360L is the standard cart delivered to each home and holds about five bags of garbage. The smaller 240L cart holds around three bags and residents can choose the combination of blue and black cart sizes that best suits their needs.

Cart exchange requests can be made online at 311.lethbridge.ca or over the phone by calling Lethbridge 311. After August 16, residents will have to pay a fee of $100 if they want to exchange their carts.

The new carts will be ordered and delivered to homes in the fall. Original carts will be taken off the property when the new cart is delivered.

The City said residents can also request a second blue or black cart for an additional monthly charge. Residents are advised to make their requests for a secondary cart during the July 12-August 16 period by calling Lethbridge 311.
