RCMP seeking suspects in southern Alberta ammolite thefts

RAYMOND, AB – RCMP in Raymond and Magrath have identified two suspects in the theft of a fossil from a local mine near the Blood Tribe reserve.

At 12:43 pm on Tuesday, July 16th, the pair allegedly made off with the stone from the Enchanted Hills Mine and returned to the reserve.. While its exact value has yet to be determined, it is believed to be worth anywhere between $40,000 and $100,000.

The investigation had identified 34-year-old Bryan David Fyfe and 26-year-old Logan Cash Orville Heavy Shields as suspects.

Fyfe is described as a caucasian man, standing 5’11” and weighing 181 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes with sideburns and facial hair.

Heavy Shields is described as a First Nations man, standing 6’1″ and weighing 190 pounds. He has brown hair and brows eyes and is said to have tattoos on his arm and chest.

Both have been charged with theft over $5,000 and a charge under the Petty Trespass Act.

Fyfe is believed to have been driving an all-red 1988 GMC pickup truck. A black stripe might have been added onto it.
