22 confirmed tornadoes across Alberta so far this year
LETHBRIDGE — In what has been the busiest tornado season in the past 20 years across the Wildrose province, as a report from Environment Canada shows that 22 tornadoes have touched down so far in 2019.
Two of those were rated as an EF2 and two were rated as EF1. The rest were rated as an EF0 on the Fujita scale, which is the lowest rating.
The Lethbridge region recorded three tornados – in Fort Macleod, Lomond and Carmangay.
Eleven, or exactly half, of those tornadoes across province came during the last week of June (23-29). Seven of the touchdowns were recorded during an outbreak on June 28.
