Bichette sets records in home debut, but Blue Jays fall to Yankees 12-6
TORONTO — Coming into Thursday’s game with a franchise-record 10-game hitting streak to start his career, Toronto Blue Jays rookie Bo Bichette put on quite the show in his first game at home.
“Wow, how’s he doing that?” Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo said of Bichette. “We’re watching history, that’s what we’re doing.”
Bichette extended his hitting streak to start a Major League career to a franchise-record 11 games with a home run in the fifth inning. He hit a double in the sixth inning, which extended his doubles streak to a Major League-record nine consecutive games.
“I think I expected to come in here and play well,” Bichette said. “I’m hot right now. I’m putting up numbers and seeing the ball really well.”
