LETHBRIDGE, AB – Over the next month, two city pools operated by the Recreation Excellence will be closed to the public.

Beginning Monday Aug. 12, Fritz Sick Pool on 11 St. S. will close for its annual maintenance. It will re-open Sept. 3. Stan Siwik Pool on 15 Ave. N. will close its doors from Sept. 3 until Sept. 22.

According to the City of Lethbridge, during the shut down periods Nicholas Sheran Pool will remain open for those looking for an indoor swimming facility. The facility also accepts the “Fun Pass.”

Westminster Public Outdoor Pool and Henderson Pool will also remain open until Sept. 2. The Cor Van Raay YMCA will also be open for those wishing to drop-in.

As well, the Rotary Centennial spray fountain in Galt Gardens and the Gyro Spray Park behind Nicholas Sheran Leisure Centre will stay open until the Sept. long weekend and potentially longer if the weather allows.

As of Sept. 1, there will also be a slight increase to the drop-in and Fun Pass rates. The City says the increases are needed to offset operational expenses like minimum wage, utility rates and cost of maintenance and aquatics supplies.

The rates for a child 12 and under will increase from $3.75 to $4, for drop-in, while the rates for adults will go from $6 to $6.50. A family pass that was $15 will now cost $16.

More information on admission rates can be found here.
