LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Government of Alberta is recognizing people and organizations that have gone out of their way to improve safety in their communities.

“All Albertans should feel safe in their communities. I thank this year’s award recipients and nominees for their exceptional leadership, innovation and dedication to community justice,” says Minister of Justice and Solicitor General Doug Schweitzer. “They have improved the lives of Albertans and have made our province an even better place to live and work.”

Lethbridge’s Adonus Arlett is the program manager for the Lethbridge Corridor Victim Services Unit.

He helped to introduce a victim services support dog to help victims navigate the criminal justice process.

As well, the YWCA Lethbridge Amethyst Project is being recognized for its 24-hour support program for women, men, and children who have experienced sexual violence.

Rounding out Southern Alberta’s recipients is the Taber Police Service Auxiliary Policing Program.

This is a group of auxiliary officers who volunteer their time by engaging the public and bridging the gap between residents and police.

The three were among those being celebrated at the Government House in Edmonton.
