Cottonwood Park set to temporarily close for improvement work

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Effective Monday, September 9, Lethbridge’s Cottonwood Park will be closed.

The move is only temporary, however, as crews will be working on improvements around the space.

Improvements include:

· Rehabilitation of the parking lot, which will include the addition of nine new stalls

· Replacement of the existing narrow shale path with a 1.5 metre wide limestone path

· New stairs and hand rails

· New stair-free 1.5 metre wide limestone path along the existing access road alignment

· New post and cable fence along 60 Avenue W.

The work is expected to wrap up by the end of September, according to the City of Lethbridge. The City is asking the public to avoid the area during construction.

The City also noted that all crew members have gone through a snake safety and awareness training sessions courtesy of Friends of Helen Schuler Nature Centre Society.
