Man arrested for allegedly having machete & meth near Supervised Consumption Site

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Police were called to an area near the Supervised Consumption Site at approximately 6:40 am on Tuesday, September 17th.

Several men were reportedly seen passing around a machete.

Police found one of the men who matched the description of a witness, who was found to have the machete stuffed into his pants, along with a second knife and a small quantity of methamphetamine.

The officers later determined that 37-year-old Shane Garrett Williams of Standoff was bound by conditions to not possess any weapons.

He was arrested and is facing two counts of possession of a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of methamphetamine, and breach of probation.

Williams is currently in custody awaiting a judicial interim release hearing.
