EDMONTON, AB – A dominant third period and two goals from Dylan Cozens helped propel the Lethbridge Hurricanes past the Edmonton Oil Kings on the road Sunday afternoon.

FIRST PERIOD

The first period was relatively quiet between the Hurricanes and Oil Kings.

Dino Kambeitz scored his second goal of the season to put Lethbridge up 1-0 at the 9:05 mark. Asssits went to Alex Cotton and Justin Hall.

Kambeitz’s goal was followed by the period’s only penalty, a tripping minor on Danila Palivko of the Hurricanes at the 13:15 mark.

That was all she wrote for the two teams going into the second frame of the game.

SECOND PERIOD

The Edmonton crowd saw a bit more scoring and penalties called during the second period of the Sunday matinee.

Vladimir Alistrov got one past Bryan Thomson at 1:31 to tie the game at 1-1. His goal was assisted by Carter Souch.

At 7:39, Lethbridge’s Koletrane Wilson was hit with a minor penalty (checking to the head).

Dylan Cozens, who recently returned to the Hurricanes on Friday, scored his second goal of the year, short-handed no less to put Lethbridge up 2-1 at the 9:08 mark.

Before the buzzer sounded, a trio of penalties were called – on Edmonton’s Liam Keeler (cross-checking minor at 13:11), on Lethbridge’s Calen Addison (roughing minor at 14:25) and the Hurricanes’ Joe Arntsen (tripping minor at 17:23).

At the 19:38 mark, Edmonton’s Riley Sawchuk scored his third goal of the season, assisted by Jake Neighbours and Josh Williams, to tie the game at 2 going into the third and final frame.

THIRD PERIOD

At the 5:01 mark of the final period, Edmonton’s Jalen Luypen was called for a minor hooking penalty.
