Blood Tribe Police investigate serious assault and need information

STANDOFF — Blood Tribe police are asking for potential witnesses to come forward, as they investigate an assault last that occurred at 7:00 Saturday (Oct 5) morning at Moses Lake.

Initial witness accounts indicate 23-year old Steven Shouting used a baseball bat to assault a 28 year old man, who is also a resident of the Blood Reserve.

The victim, who suffered serious injuries to his face and body, was transported to Chinook Regional Hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.

Shouting was arrested on scene and found to be wanted on multiple warrants for previous charges of assault, assault with a weapon and sexual assault. As a result of Saturday’s assault he was further charged with aggravated assault, uttering threats, unlawful confinement, weapons offences and breaching conditions of a court order. He has been remanded in custody to appear in Cardston Provincial Court on October 16, 2019.

The accused and the victim are known to each other.

Police want to speak to anyone else who may has witnessed the incident or is aware the circumstances.
