PRINCE ALBERT — The Lethbridge Hurricanes began a four-game eastern road trip with a loss in Prince Albert Friday night. The Raiders offered up strong defense.

The Canes’ Dylan Cozens, who had nine points in his team’s first four games of the year, was kept off the scoresheet, as was D-man Calen Addison.

Scoring didn’t appear until half-way through the first period, when P-A’s Spencer Moe tapped in his first of the season. The Canes’ Ty Nash responded two minutes later with his own first goal of the season. The first 20-minutes ended on a 1-1 tie, in spite of the Canes out-shooting P-A 14-8.

The second frame offered up a single goal from the Raiders’ Zack Hayes, putting P-A ahead 2-1.

Scoring in the final 20 minutes followed the first two periods, with no action until after the mid-way point. The Canes’ Koletrane Wilson notched his first of the season, off an assist from Dino Kambeitz and evening the score at 2-2.

Less than a minute later, Spencer Moe doubled down for the Raiders, putting his team ahead 3-2 and with 20-second remaining, Ilya Usau slapped in an empty net goal, to give the Raiders’ a 4-2 win.

The Hurricanes were 0-and-3 on the powerplay and outshot the Raiders 34-25.

Lethbridge sits at 3-3-0-1 as the team heads down the road to Saskatoon to play the Blades on Saturday (Oct 12) night.
