North Siphon project to close part of north Lethbridge road next week

Oct 25, 2019 | 9:18 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Residents on the north side are being advised of a road closure next week.

Starting Monday, October 28, 13 Street N. will be closed between Uplands Boulevard N. and Blackwolf Boulevard N. The closure is happening as crews work on the North Siphon project.

The project will put additional sanitary sewer capacity in place for expansion in the Sherring Industrial Park and as the City says, “the future growth in North and Southeast Lethbridge”.

As it stands, the Sherring Sanitary Force Main connects to the gravity system on 13 Street at the boundary of Uplands. The main will be extended from 13 Street N. and Grace Dainty Road N. along Scenic Drive N. until it meets in a vault with provisions for the future 26 Avenue gravity trunk line.

More details on the project can be found here.

Commuters are advised to use Uplands Boulevard N. or Lettice Perry Road N. as alternative routes. Signs will be posted to show detours.

The closure is anticipated to last until Friday, November 8 – weather permitting.

LETHBRIDGE TRANSIT

This particular closure will impact a transit route. The City says bus users can visit myride.lethbridge.ca for possible stop closures and/or scheduling changes.
