LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Community Foundation of Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta hopes to spur a wave of kind acts.

Executive Director Charleen Davidson says Random Act of Kindness Day (RAK Day) celebrates using the power of small acts of kindness and encouraging people to do something that will empower someone else’s day.

“Kind acts can be anything from paying someone a compliment, treating someone to a coffee, or being extra courteous in traffic—just to name a few.”

On Friday, November 1st, the group is challenging everyone in the community to perform kind acts for others and to encourage them to do the same.

“They may begin as a ripple, but many ripples can make a wave. We always want to lead by example,” says Davidson.

This year, Community Foundation delegates will be out across Southwestern Alberta doing their part to start a wave of kindness.

Several schools in Lethbridge will be taking part in RAK Day by using special Kindness Kits, which the Community Foundation believes has everything needed to get students excited about performing kind acts.

The kits include posters, stickers, and Kindness Cards, which are given out when someone performs a random act of kindness.

Anyone who participates in RAK Day will have a chance to win one of 10 $500 Kindness Grants for a local charity of their choosing.
