The Ice freeze out the Canes 4-3 in a shoot-out
WINNIPEG — The Lethbridge Hurricanes began a three-game road trip with a loss in Manitoba in the first of two games the Winnipeg Ice.
The first period didn’t offer much in terms of action as the two teams were meeating for the first time this season. The players seemed to be spending their time sizing each other up as the period produced one minor penalty for slashing, against the Canes’ Calen Addison and no score as the buzzer finished off the first 20 minutes. The Ice did outshoot the Hurricanes 10-7.
The second frame opened on a positive note, as just 33-seconds after puck drop, the Canes’ Oliver Okuliar potted his 9th of the season, putting his team up 1-0.
The Ice worked hard on lobbing the shots at Carl Tetachuk. At the half-way mark of the period, the Ice’s Austin Schellenberg slipped a point shot between the pipes and the game was tied 1-1.
