WESTEROSE, AB – The 4-H Foundation of Alberta has awarded 10 scholarships to youth across the province to help them pursue their post-secondary goals.

It’s the second year the Elmer and Ona Hansen memorial Fund Scholarship has been given out.

First place winner Jade Nelson of Stirling, received the largest scholarship, valued at $20,000.

“I am incredibly honoured to receive this award,” said Nelson.”It’s pretty stressful to move out and start university, and this scholarship has really helped ease some of my worries about how I would be able to survive university financially.”

Nelson says she’s also grateful for the opportunities that have arisen. She says she hopes to go on a humanitarian trip to help people in developing countries,a s well as gain new experiences to help prepare her for the years to come.

The Elmer and Ona Hansen Memorial Fund Scholarship will open its 2020 applications on May 1, 2020. Those interested in applying can do so at www.4h.ab.ca.
