Should Alberta ditch bi-annual time changes? Province launches survey

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Daylight saving time has been a time-honoured tradition in Alberta for the last half-century, but the government wants to know if this should be a thing of the past.

Governments across North America and Europe have been considering ending the time change for a while now.

The province has launched a brief survey that asks Alberta if we should continue the practice of changing our clocks twice a year or if we should adopt year-round observance of daylight saving time.

“When we consider our neighbouring provinces, for example, the government of BC tabled legislation in October moving the province to summer hours all year long. Saskatchewan does not adjust its clocks twice a year.”
